Electric forklifts are a means of lifting goods that are used more and more widely in many industries and fields. Like other vehicles and machinery, electric forklifts also need to be maintained on time and properly. Join Yale Forklifts Vietnam to learn more about how to process a safety electric forklifts maintenance in the article below:
1. Why should customers need to do regular electric forklift maintenance?
The maintenance of electric forklifts play an extremely important role in the process of using the vehicle. Regular maintenance of electric forklifts will bring the following benefits:
– Ensure the operation of the forklift is safe for both drivers and goods.
– Extend the lifespan of equipment and spare parts on the forklift.
– Promptly detect errors on the truck.
– Cut the cost to the lowest level when doing the periodic maintenance for the forklift
2. Standard electric forklift maintenance process:
A standard maintenance process will include the following 9 steps:
Process of maintenance of electric forklifts properly includes 9 basic steps
Step 1: Cleaning the outside of the electric forklifts
Electrical forklifts are usually cleaned by dry hygiene measures. In addition, customers can also use gasoline or specialized chemicals to remove stains, rust stains on the body of the truck.
Step 2: Check the battery
Forklift battery is an extremely important part of electric forklifts. This part provides energy for the entire operation of the truck. Therefore, attention should be paid to cleaning, checking the cell and adding water in case the water level in the cell is low.
Step 3: Checking the battery charger
The battery charger has a great effect on the lifespan of the forklift battery. Check when the battery is fully charged, whether the charging system automatically disconnects or not. If not, customers should plan to repair or replace the charger immediately to avoid affecting the battery productivity.
Step 4: Grease the forklift’s wheel system and moving parts
After ensuring that the battery charging system and battery are in good working order, customers need to proceed to inject lubricant into the wheels and moving parts of the forklift such as cylinders, brakes, etc.
Step 5: Checking the hydraulic system
Check the amount of oil in the valve, oil pipe,… If the oil level is low, it needs to be refilled to ensure the forklift works properly. In particular, if the old oil cannot be used anymore, change the oil for the truck.
Step 6: Check engine and hydraulic system of lifting part
Those are all extremely important parts in the construction of electric forklifts. Do not forget to pump grease into the sprockets, chains, bearings,… so that these parts do not dry out, affecting the performance of the truck.
Step 7: Clean the electronic boards and check the wire connectors
Pay attention to cleaning the electronic boards properly with specialized cleaning detergents. Check the power cord connectors to make sure they are in good working order. In case of signs of damage, immediately replace or take insulation measures to ensure safety during repair and maintenance.
Step 8: Check brake system, lights, horn
To ensure the safety of the driver as well as those around, make sure that parts such as brakes, lights and horns are in good working order. When going downhill or moving the vehicle on different terrains, braking is a very important part. Warning systems on electric forklifts such as lights and horns also contribute to ensuring the safety of the entire operating area of the truck.
Step 9: Check the electric power steering system and its movement
Finally, don’t forget to check the operation of the electric power steering. This is likened to the standard system on today’s modern forklifts. Pay attention to injecting lubricant into this system to ensure that the parts move smoothly, without affecting the entire system.
3. Important note when maintaining the forklift battery and charging system:
During the maintenance of electric forklift trucks, special attention should be paid to the following points to ensure the charging system and battery are operating at the best efficiency:
- For electric forklift charging system:
– Pay attention to using converters to properly power 3-phase or 1-phase chargers.
– The standard capacity of the transformer ranges from 8kW to 10kW
– Safe battery charging circle is from 4 hours to 6 hours.
- For electric forklift battery:
– The temperature when charging the battery should not exceed 50°C
– Do not charge the battery near a fire source to avoid fire or explosion.
– Before and after charging the battery, if the amount of solution in the battery decreases, more distilled water can be added to evenly distribute the cell.
– The lids of the cells should remain open during the entire time of filling.
– The density of the standard electrolyte solution is 1.28g. If this density is too high or too low, it will affect the life of the battery.
– Remember to close the lid of the cell and clean the battery (dry or wet) after charging is complete.
